Mood Board

In our mood board we tried to visually express the mood and theme of our music video. The most important part of a mood board is the colours and that is why we decided to keep the colours mainly black and white apart from one obvious one in the middle where a band is performing. This is because throughout are music video there will be minimal lighting apart from when there are shots back at the studio of the band performing as it shows there passion for music and wanting to become famous reiterated. The setting in the mood board shows that open space and the country side will be a key part of the music video due to it reinforcing the idea that the band have huge dreams and have no limits to there success. This links in with the narrative as its all about the band becoming famous and starting at the bottom as ordinary people. This is shown in the mood board as a few of the images show men being on there own alone. The image of the band is shown in the mood board because you can see ordinary men walking in casual clothes or suits which brings back the idea that the band are a group of normal people wanting to become famous from their music.

Interview On Music Video

From reviewing the videos of the interviews it is clear to see that when making our music video we need to make it memorable so it stands out from the crowd with originality. By meeting the public objectives from different age groups, we must intent to make a music video where the public listen to the song to specifically see the music video.
Furthermore, we must tell a clear and understandable story that matches the lyrics and beat and lyrics are cut to the beat. A number of people stated they only really remember 1 specific music video as there favourite so we need to work very hard to include many features that turn the audiences head so they focus and fall in love with ours. When choosing the song we need to pick one that doesn't focus on a niche market but one that focuses on a mass market and all different ages will find the song and video enjoyable and will make them watch it over and over again.

Analysis Of Music Video

Shots of the band demonstrates they are a group, a gang and it demonstrates that they have a star image of rebellion and drug taking. There are also loads of quick cuts between the different instruments as the song stars further enhances their organic status.
The focus of a television screen within the frame to show the singers close up of him singing this highlights Andrew Goodwin convention the notions of a screen within a screen. This helps sell the singers image as being the sex symbol of the band and demonstrates in which his image is different to the rest of the band as he is sold o his looks.
The use of dark colours along side the green screen images and fast zooms and birds eye view shot also adds a frenetic element to the song and enhance the performance element.
The reasoning behind this is to represent the band as being more organic and a live attraction to appeal to their target audience of indie rock fans.

Analysis Of Album Cover

This is the album ‘Rocket to Russia/ which was the Ramones debut album released in 1977. We can see their is 4 band members all wearing the same style clothes which is a stereotypical 1970's rock band look - wearing black leather jackets with long hair and skinny jeans. The fact that they are against a brick wall suggests they are urban and have an edge to band which demonstrates their rebellious side. As well as this, they are all next to each other highlights they are close and like a gang. They have used a big bold font and colour in which their band name and album is in. They have done this because it is their first album, they want it to be highlighted who they are so they can get known easier. Their stance shows that they are anti-authoritarian and this is also symbolised through their clothing and this related to their genre which was punk. Punk is symbolic of anti-authoritarian attitudes and rebelliousness therefore, linking to their star image.

When constructing a star image for an artist it is vital that we think about how it relates to the genre as well. As we are designing an album cover for the rock band, we will need to think about how the bands image relates to the genre.
