Analysis Of Album Cover

This is the album Youth & Young Manhood which was Kings Of Leon debut album released in 2003. We can see it is a animated picture of all the band members. The reason they have done this is because it is their debut album they wanted their faces of it so they would be more well known and it would be a start of their career. The way they have the four heads together represents them as a gang and draws attention to their facial hair which is a stereotypical rock star hair style from the 70s. The way they are positioned in a circular fashion also signifies that they have a knock ledge of rock history as the cover is reminiscent of rock bands in the 70s such as 'The Greatfall Dead' 'Led Zeppelin' and 'The Eagles & Byrds'. The use of the white background creates a sense of nostalgia as it makes it look for old fashioned. This is part of the image they wanted to portray as they are trying to align themselves with iconic rock bands from the 70s. This signifies their organic nature.

We can see here, a 3 piece band made up of two males and one female which is the same as ours.
We can see by the way that they are dressed and positioned they are an authentic and organic band. They are wearing casual, messy, colourful clothing which represents their star image which is wacky and authentic.





The Kills: 






This is a two piece band in which these two members were having a relationship just like our lead singer and our drummer who have now been going out for a while. This band is an organic and authentic band. We can see by what they are wearing they are organic as they are just wearing their everyday normal clothes. As well as this, we don't see a two piece band with one female and one males everyday.

Narrative Of Our Film

Narrative of film: 

The narrative we wish to portray in our music video is based around the concept of a band whose life is on the up and is on route to becoming a famous band. We see this at the beginning of the music video it starts off with the band behind a car having fun and proud of there accomplishments. There journey to become famous is implied via the long road trip that the band go on. An example of a road trip type effect in another music video is 'Hero' from Enrique Iglesias as it shows clips of him travelling on long journeys in the middle of no where to save a girl but in our music video it is a band trying to become famous and succesful. Although they both may seem like very different story lines they are similar because they both include an individual or group on a mission to get somewhere and have to take a long journey to get there. Our narrative will begin with the group being at the bottom trying to get noticed by anyone which is reiterated in the title of the song which is "Use Somebody". It links to the narrative because the band want and need people to help there dream of becoming famous. This shot shown is something we would like to replicate as it shows how he has a long road ahead of him as there is nothing around for miles and miles ahead. This may be difficult to film but we could just stick a GoPro at the front of the car which could give a similar effect which we are trying to portray.

Location for Music Video

Location 1: studio

The studio will  included as a part of the movie where will be singing the song and it will sow us perfecting the music video. The studio we will use will be in the school making it easier to transport the camera and movie it around. This scene shows the band performing the song with musical instruments perfecting the song ready for it to be recording showing that the band is organic. Being organic will help them hopefully break into the music world by being original an focusing purely o the music. This part of the music video sows similarity to other bands and their music video like in the song Home by Daughtry which shows the band practising  there song in a studio before performing to a live audience

Location 2:

The theatre is also located in school like the studio making it  very convenient meaning we have more time to edit and perfect the look of our video.It will  will be used as another cut scene where it will sow the band performing the song for real

wearing suits and giving it everything for the be performance. This shows the band is authentic by performing with the musical instruments and by wearing suits with a dark tinted lenses on the camera which gives it a retro look and feel to it. the means it can be compared to the like of the music video of Hey Ya by Outcast
